The Haight truly is a special venue. It’s rich history and unique atmosphere create a one of a kind space for every wedding. Located in the heart of Elgin, IL, the converted warehouse space is the perfect mix of modern and rustic. When The Haight was built in 1890 it was home to the Elgin Storage & Transfer Company. The structure was originally used to board horses and carriages that carried the Elgin Watch Factory workers to and from work.
From 1926 on, the building housed numerous companies including the Elgin Saddlery and Milk Company, Cable Piano Company, and in 1940, Ludwig Dairy. In 1985, the building was purchased by John Haight. Haight began restoring the building while preserving much of the original woodwork and details. The rest, as they say, is history!
The first-floor space consists of 2,000 square feet and is the perfect setting for a cocktail hour holding up to 175 people standing. The second floor boasts 7,000 square feet with seating for 300, or 250 with a dancefloor. The architectural elements from this historic 1890 building include timber beams and exposed brick walls, which together create a cozy environment for guests to socialize. At first glance, The Haight seems like an unassuming wedding venue. However, its blank canvas adds to its charm.
