After the “I Do”: Summer Concerts

As the seasons change and the summer weather heats up, there is nothing that we love more than being outdoors! With so many bbq’s, pool parties, and festivals to attend, squeezing a relaxing night in with your partner may be difficult to plan.

Planning a night Ravinia is more than just going to another concert. The Ravinia Festival is one of the oldest outdoor music festivals in the United States with a series of outdoor concerts and performances held every summer from June to September. These concerts range from Yo-Yo Ma to John Legend to the annual summer residency of the nation’s finest orchestra, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra. This year’s front runners include Buddy Guy with Booker T. Jones, Willie Nelson and Family, Aretha Franklin, Common, The Beach Boys, Sheryl Crow, OneRepublic , Fritz & The Tantrums, Blondie, Garbage, Sammy Hagar, John Legend, Santana, Stevie Nicks and TLC.

Ravinia is primarily known as an outdoor venue with a gorgeous sprawling lawn. Because of this, it’s recommended that concert-goers bring their own chairs, tables, blankets, and as much food and beverages as you need! Check out our Ravinia date night picnic guide and head over to Ravinia’s website for a concert schedule you don’t want to miss!

For the perfect picnic, you want food that’s easy to eat and easy to prepare. When the temperatures heat up, you want a cool drink and simple refreshing flavors. We’ve fallen in love with this super delicious Watermelon salad; make ahead and enjoy with Trader Joe’s all new Simpler Wines Italian Sparkling Wine in 4-pack cans. Before you head out, head over to Pottery Barn for Rattan Picnic Basket for Two.
